Season 1891–92 was the nineteenth season in which Dumbarton competed at a Scottish national level, entering the Scottish Football League for the second time, and the Scottish Cup for the nineteenth time. == Overview == Dumbarton retained the Scottish League Championship with 37 points, 2 ahead of runners-up Celtic. In the process a 100% home record in league fixtures was maintained. In addition John Bell finished as league top goalscorer for the second season running. In the Scottish Cup, Dumbarton lost out to their old rivals Queen's Park in the seventh round, after a 2-2 draw. In other competitions, Dumbarton retained the Dumbartonshire Cup, again beating Vale of Leven in the final, but in the Greenock Charity Cup were defeated by the hosts Morton in the final. After a gap of three years, Dumbarton were again invited to take part in the Glasgow Charity Cup, but lost out to Celtic in the semi final. During the season, 6 'other' matches were played, including an 8-0 thrashing of Celtic. Of these matches, 3 were won, 1 drawn and 2 lost, scoring 22 goals and conceding 14.
